The Census Bureau did not just decide to allow people to check more than one race. It took YEARS of advocacy to get them to recognize the multiracial population. Also, Hispanic is not a racial group, it is still an ethnic group. The Bureau will probably change Hispanic to a race for the 2020 Census.
